I have a hand guided APQS Millennium longarm quilting machine.

Currently I am only offering an edge-to-edge pantograph service, this means that the design will cover your entire quilt with no regard for piecing, applique, or borders. The design is printed on a long roll of paper, and is followed by hand using a laser pointer attached to the machine. My system is not moved or guided by a computer, therefore small diversions from the original pattern will happen, giving your quilt a more hand-made feel.

My prices start from $3 per square foot dependant on the size and density of the chosen pattern. To calculate the size of your quilt in square feet you will need to know the length and width of your quilt in inches.

width x length = size square inches
size in square inches / 144 = size in square feet

There is a minimum quilting charge of $50.

I prefer to use Superior threads 100% cotton King Tut on the top, and Superior Threads 100% polyester "Bottom Line" or "Sew Fine" in the bobbin. King Tut comes in a range of lovely variegated colors. The cost of these threads is included in the price of the quilting, I am happy to consider using other threads, however these may attract an additional cost.

I can supply batting for you, I stock Matilda's Own 60% wool/40% cotton, this is 240cm wide and costs $18 per metre. This batting has a slightly higher loft than pure cotton and with the warmth of wool and the softness of cotton it gives you the best of both worlds.

I can also purchase wide backing for you from www.widebacks.com.au - you can make your selection from their website or from me in person from my swatch book, I will then purchase this on your behalf and include the cost on your invoice along with your quilting. When you order through me I will cover the postage costs of getting the fabric to me, you are only charged for the fabric itself.

If you are providing your own backing and batting you need to make sure that both the backing and batting are at least 8 inches longer and 8 inches wider that your quilt top, as I require 4 inches of extra space on each side to attach it to the rollers of my quilt machine. If your back is pieced along a selvedge you will need to remove this selvedge to avoid puckering (selvedges are OK to be left along the sides of your quilt backing). You will also need to make sure your quilt backing is square to the grain, the easiest way to do this is to tear a straight edge on your quilt.
